Remembering Elvis

Today would be Elvis's Birthday. He would have been 75 if still alive. I probably would have forgotten if it hadn't been for BBC2's week of Elvis programmes. I use to be a huge fan ( she admits blushing) at the age of 15 and like a besotted adolescent collected every record and picture I could get my hands on. I even contributed articles and drawings to the Elvis Monthly magazine and attended an Elvis convention in Nottingham.  I was living in Greece in 77 and heard about his death on the radio without understanding exactly what happened. I felt very sad at the time as he was my idol, fantasy boyfriend and teenage dream. Since he died I stopped being such an avid fan mainly because I had always dreamt  I would be able to see him live, and that dream died when he did. So what did I like about him? he was gorgeous, sexy and had a fantastic voice and during  my teenage years he filled that gap in my life that boy's would later occupy.
Happy Birthday Elvis!
